Marc Shaffer Producer
Before joining Hedrick Smith Productions, Marc Shaffer spent seven years with CBS News. He reported, wrote and produced investigative stories on health care fraud, congressional waste, and environmental threats for Eye To Eye With Connie Chung. He also served as an associate producer on that broadcast as well as on Street Stories With Ed Bradley, 48 Hours and Nightwatch. Shaffer has worked on several programs for Hedrick Smith Productions including Surviving the Bottom Line: Running with the Bulls, The Greening of The Class of 1994 and The People and the Power Game, for which he was awarded the Silver Medal at Worldfest Houston. Shaffer produced the South Carolina hate crime and California teen violence segments of Seeking Solutions.
David Murdock Producer

In 1984, producer David Murdock helped establish the Educational Video Center in New York City, where he led teams of inner-city teenagers in producing documentaries for broadcast and national distribution. The programs he and his teams produced won numerous awards and were featured by Bill Moyers, Barbara Walters, The Today Show, and the Whitney Museum of American Art. Murdock went on to work as an associate producer with Bill Moyers on his series, What Can We Do About Violence? and later for David Grubin on "Truman" which won an Emmy Award for best historical special, and Ofra Bikel on her Frontline special, "The Plea." Since joining Hedrick Smith Productions in 1997, Murdock has produced an hour for Surviving the Bottom Line, two pieces on high-tech education for The NewsHour with Jim Leher and a short series on liberal education in Eastern Europe in addition to his work on Seeking Solutions.
Ariadne Allan Producer

Ariadne Allan, Producer of "Seeking Solutions"

Ariadne Allan began her career at National Public Radio and has also produced for both ABC and CBS News. As associate producer for 60 Minutes, she developed and researched stories dealing with government and military topics. During this time, Allan received a national Emmy Award for outstanding investigative journalism. At ABC, she was associate producer of the news magazine show Day One. After working on Capitol Hill for the U.S. Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, she joined Hedrick Smith Productions where she produced Surviving the Bottom Line: Running with the Bulls and Surviving the Bottom Line: Learning to Survive. Allan produced the Washington, D.C. teen crime and Kansas City street crime segments of Seeking Solutions.
