The Vermont Department of Health (VDH) is the state's public health agency. The Department provides preventive and promotional maternal and child health services; prenatal care; diagnostic, counseling, referral, and followup services for children suspected of developmental disabilities; rehabilitation services for handicapped children; an early periodic screening, diagnosis, and treatment (EPSDT) program for Medicaid-eligible persons under age 22; immunization assistance programs; cancer prevention and control services; nutrition services; dental health services; training programs for emergency medical technicians, occupational and radiological health services; environmental protection; food and lodging facility inspection; communicable disease control; toxicology services, and training programs and technical assistance for town health officers.

The Vermont Health Care Association is the state's long term care trade organization, comprised of nursing and sub acute care facilities, residential and assisted living homes. VAHHS is member-owned organization devoted to improving the health status of communities throughout Vermont to supporting the missions of all Vermont hospitals and health systems and to foster the development of integrated health care delivery systems. Their activities range from working with the Legislature in Montpelier and Congress in Washington, D.C. to working in partnerships with dozens of Vermont health care organizations, to providing educational and research services for members and non-members alike. We also work with many organizations which develop and advise on health policy such as the Vermont Ethics Network and the Vermont Program for Quality Health Care, Inc.
VTMEDNET, Vermont's Health Information Network, is a joint project of Fletcher Allen Health Care, the UVM College of Medicine, the UVM Dana Medical Library, the Vermont Hospital Association, and the Vermont Medical Society. Web site provides a listings of Vermont related health care sites, information on Telemedicine program, tools for searching the Internet, and a health sciences database.
Mailing list created to give Vermonters an open forum on anything and everything dealing with the health of the citizens of the state of Vermont.
