The mission of the Oregon State Health Division is to protect, preserve and promote the health of all the people of Oregon. To prevent unnecessary death and disability, improve the health status, and reduce the per-capita cost of illness care for all Oregonians. The Health Division is responsible for assuring the availability and the quality of public health services in all parts of Oregon. Most program services are provided in partnership with local health departments, while technical support, consultation, and some direct services are provided from the state level. The Health Division consists of 116 programs organized into five centers -- Center for Child and Family Health; Office of the Administrator and Program Services; Center for Disease Prevention and Epidemiology; Center for Environment and Health Systems; and the Public Health Laboratory.
