The Montana Office of Rural Health (MORH) was established in 1987 as a project of the Montana Area Health Education Center (AHEC). The establishment of the Federal Office of Rural Health Policy in 1987 led to a national initiative to fund and develop State Offices of Rural Health in every state. Office of Rural Health's mission is to: collect and disseminate information within the state; improve recruitment and retention of health professionals into rural areas; provide technical assistance to attract more federal, state, and foundation funding for rural health; and coordinate rural health interests and activities across the state.
