The mission of the Bureau of Health Services is to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of Michigan by ensuring that providers of health services meet required standards of practice. This is done through the administration of the occupational regulation sections of the Michigan Public Health Code, Public Act 368 of 1978, as amended, and addressing practice issues related to health care in Michigan.

To help young people make healthy choices now and in the future by providing a broad range of basic health care, support services and education on a sliding fee scale. The Corner sees young people ages 12-21 and their children, offering care for common health problems, birth control services, pregnancy care, and pediatric care; social work and other support services including HIV testing and counseling, and WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) Supplemental Food Program; and health education including teen Theatre Troupe, "A Star Is Born" parenting education program, and outreach/community health education
